    Electricity And Power Outlets
 

In Australia electricity for domestic use found in homes and hotels is 240/250 volts AC 50 Hz on a standard three pin plugs. It is different to many Asian and European countries and the need for an adapter is required.

Adapters can be purchased from souvenir shops, electrical stores, airports and sometimes may be supplied by the hotel free of charge if booked in advance.

 

 

     Currency
 
The Australian Dollar ($A) is the basic unit of currency in Australia and is equal to 100 cents. There are total of six coins and five notes in circulation. Notes are in denominations of $100, $50, $20, $10 and $5. While coinage is in denominations of $2, $1, 50c, 20c, 10c and 5c. As well as the normal circulation notes and coins, periodic commemorative notes and coins are also minted from time to time.

 

     Water Quality
 
The Water Authority of Western Australia is required to treat and sanitise domestic water supplied into the homes of Western Australians. It is generally safe to drink straight from a tap without any further treatments. Domestic water is treated with chlorine for disinfectant and fluoride to protect kids against tooth decay.
 

 

     Dress Standards
 
Comfortable and casual is more or less the standards Austalians enjoy all year round. Dinner jackets and ties are rarely worn when going out, except attending special functions like weddings and balls. Due to Australia’s complete isolation from other continents, there are many import restrictions in place to help protect Australia’s island ecology.

These primarily covers live plants and animals, plant and animal products including all items made from wood, and food products. At times even muddy walking boots may attract attention from customs. If in doubt, declare any such items for inspection to avoid fines and penalty.
